Fagus sylvatica Frisio Prismatic
Frisio Prismatic European Beech
Habit
Dwarf to semi-dwarf. This selection is a new derivative of the seldom seen cultivar 'Frisio', as such we can provide an educated guess that it will likely follow the habits of the parent. Slow growing, dense upright, eventually forming a narrow oblong, becoming slightly wider at the base with age.
Foliage & Bark
Typical beech leaf in outline. The dark purple leaf-like central pattern is irregularly edged with generous amounts of rich pink in various arrangements all along the blade. The pink gives way to green and the pink to a light pastel as the season progresses. The overall scheme is reminiscent of the famed cultivar 'Aureomarginata', considering our evaluations in full sun are incomplete, a sighting to protect from afternoon exposure might be prudent.
