Acer palmatum 'Pastel Parade'
Pastel Parade Japanese Maple
Habit
A sister seedling of the outlandishly popular 'Tangerine Sunup'. All observations thus far show the typical 'Mikawa Yatsubusa' branch structure, but slightly slower.
Foliage & Bark
The foliage attachment is very similar to "Mikawa', with leaves stacked and layered all along the primary twigs and branches. Like 'Tangerine Sunup', the leaves are coral when first unfurling, but the transitioning of pink-orange with yellow center comes in much more quickly as the leaves mature. The unique phase that follows is a light canary / butter yellow with peach new leaves. Eventually this new twist will turn green, but the two step really puts on a show while it lasts. The fall color is red to red-orange. The bark shows no pertinent ornamental traits.
Flower & Fruit
No notable ornamental flower characteristics.
The seed set is the typical bright red samara, ornamental when contrasted against
the green leaves.

Special Notes
The ongoing research in to the 'Mikawa Yatsubusa' bloodline has prompted us to begin propagation of another unnamed form, hopefully for release fall 2027. The parent and all the progeny are showing a very stylish, horizontal habit, often twice as wide as tall in most cases.
