To our valued customer,
Please bear with me as I detail our policy changes in shipping greenhouse plants in full leaf this time of year.
As a rule, when we are past mid-May the only option for shipping anywhere past the Rockies is 3-day air. This
method is usually safe for plants as it pertains to the travel time (3-4 days, 5 in rare situations), vs ground (5-7
days or more). With that said, we have noted two recent issues with 3-day. The handlers seem much more
careless with our boxes than shipping by ground, so there are extra expenses due to reinforcement of the box
to prevent crashing.
In addition, when moving from a temperature-controlled warehouse to a temperature-controlled aircraft it’s all
good. The in between is always unknown, we have no way to predict how long the box will sit on the tarmac
once offloaded. If it’s hot and sits for an extended period there can be real degradation, if not outright cooking,
of the plant.
All that to say, the increased costs for boxing and shipping along with the risks of cooking or crushing has
forced us to refrain from shipping now while providing options for you as to how to handle your order going
forward.
Options.
Due to our desire to handle each order case by case we have not provided a mechanism on the web page for
scenarios such as this, I offer these three options for your review.
Full refund, upon your request. This would entail re-ordering later in the season and would not reserve a
plant for you in the interim.
Partial refund, upon your request. This would provide you with the assurance that your plant will be reserved
for you and we would retain 1/3 of your purchase price to do so.
Keep the order, as is. In this case we would reserve your plant, and the status of the order would be kept as
prepaid in full.
In the case of the latter two choices, we would reach out when the weather is conducive to shipping via
ground, usually mid-September at the earliest. Once we make contact all the particulars regarding timing and
payment for shipping and handling will be addressed at that time.
Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused and let me now you wish to proceed.
As always, do not hesitate to contact me by email if you have any further questions
