Acer circinatum ‘Cassandra’

Cassandra Vine Maple

Fast growing and similar to the species with several upward but spreading primary trunks that eventually form a broad multi stem tree.

Foliage:
The leaves differ from the species in color and texture, emerging and maintaining a lighter chartreuse with unevenly distributed flecks and patches of dark green of varying sizes and configurations. The color holds well for a good portion of the season, eventually fading to lighter yellow green. Like its parentage the fall color can range from bright yellow, red-orange and sometimes purple. The contrasting patches offer added interest in coloring in differing hues than the rest of the leaves.

Bark
No notable bark characteristics.

Flower
The small, but notable, green-white flowers consist of 6 to 10 stalked pendant stamens which are skirted with a showy dark red sepal, the display is usually clustered in groups of 5 or more.

Fruit
Showy wine-colored winged samaras appear in mid-autumn.
